Southport Potted Shrimps use locally caught brown shrimp, where freshness is paramount in retaining the wholesomeness and flavour of this west coast delicacy. Through careful selection of shrimps from the district, James Peet has built up a reputation for a consistent, high quality product.

Shrimp catches have a high and low season, by carefully balancing the supplies of shrimps we can offer continuity of supply where possible.
The potted shrimps are manufactured using James' unique blend of salt, spices and butter. The recipe has been refined and developed over many years so as to use only natural ingredients with no artificial preserves.
The product is manufactured to very high biological standard in keeping with the traditional industry and comply with all Environmental Health and European legislation for food hygiene.
Shrimps are a versatile food which, can be used for a starter, a snack or incorporated into a sauce to accompany a fish dish.
Mr Peet, the Director of the company overseas all quality control matters, from start to finish.
Our Processes
From the moment the shrimps are caught, from processing to manufacturing the quality control is maintained by Mr Peet - Director of the Southport Shrimps.
Once the shrimps are selected they are:
Cooked in salts, peppers, spices and butter (to a refined historic recipe).
The cooked shrimps are left to chill.
Weighed into pots.
Capped with a thin layer of butter.
Rapidly frozen to preserve the unique and distinctive flavour that only comes from Southport Brown Shrimps.
This whole process is tested and sampled periodically by local authority Environmental Health in accordance with European legislation.
